Such diets are rich in omega-6 fatty acids but extremely low in omega-3 fatty acids. If vegetable oil is added to the ration, it further skews the ratio, with omega-6 fatty acids being overrepresented. To help counteract this imbalance, horses should be supplemented with omega-3 fatty acids, the richest sources of which are fish oils.<\/p>\n<p>Damdare Bartar developed Linoferus, a linseed-derived oil that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Linoferus contains the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA.<\/p>\n<p>Linoferus is intended to be fed to horses of all classes and working levels to improve the critical omega-3: omega-6 ratio in their diets.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Benefits&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1531660470947-c79ef87a-b0cf&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Omega-6 oils have a pro-inflammatory effect on joints, skin and hooves. By moving the balance of power to the Omega-3 oils inflammatory responses are reduced.<\/li>\n<li>Omega 3 supplementation enhances red blood cell formation, suppleness and flexibility. There is an improvement in blood vessel strength, elasticity of connective tissue and membrane flexibility with Omega-3 supplementation.<\/li>\n<li>Lung health improves due to decreased inflammation and improved blood circulation. This can be beneficial for horses with exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhaging.<\/li>\n<li>Omega 3 supplementation increases insulin sensitivity.
