Queen Bee Egg-Laying Decline: A Beekeeper’s Challenge

A reduction or cessation in the queen bee’s egg-laying activity is one of the most critical concerns among beekeepers. A successful beekeeper is always looking for ways to sustain and enhance the queen’s egg-laying capacity in their hives to maintain strong, healthy colonies. Robust and populous hives result in increased productivity, greater longevity, and improved overall bee health.

After mating, a queen bee typically maintains high egg-laying performance for the first two years of life. By the third year, aging and weakening lead to a natural decline in her reproductive output. A healthy, young queen can lay approximately 1,500 to 2,000 eggs per day during her first year. The queen’s egg-laying rate is influenced by various factors, including daylight duration, weather conditions, and the amount of nectar and pollen collected in the hive. During seasons when nectar and pollen sources are scarce, a noticeable drop in egg-laying often occurs—this presents a major concern for beekeepers aiming to maintain hive vitality.

PolyEgg: The Queen Bee Egg-Laying Enhancement Supplement

PolyEgg is a targeted supplement designed to significantly boost queen bee egg production within just a few days of use. In addition to enhancing egg-laying, it offers the following key benefits:

  • Increased egg fertility
  • Improved brood rearing
  • Development of hypopharyngeal glands and increased royal jelly production
  • Strengthened immune system performance
  • Greater protein reserves in worker bees

How to Use PolyEgg to Increase Queen Bee Egg-Laying and Colony Strength

For colonies with fewer than 5 frames (to strengthen or split hives):

  • Mix 4.5 kg of clean water with one 250 g packet of PolyEgg in a container. Stir well until fully dissolved (it is effervescent for easier mixing).
  • Add 4.5 kg of sugar and stir until the syrup is completely uniform.
  • Use 250 g of this syrup per hive (sufficient for 36 hives).
  • Administer the supplement every other day. On alternate days, feed only sugar syrup in the same ratio.

For colonies with 6 to 10 frames (for supering purposes):

  • Follow the same preparation instructions (4.5 kg water + 250 g PolyEgg + 4.5 kg sugar).
  • Use 500 g of syrup per hive (sufficient for 18 hives).
  • Administer the supplement every other day, alternating with sugar syrup on non-supplement days.

Important Note:

Each 250 g PolyEgg pack contains two separate sachets (each with white powder). These contain different ingredients and must be used together to be effective. Using only one sachet will not achieve the desired result.

Also, once mixed, the supplement must be used immediately, as it is not shelf-stable in syrup form. The course of supplementation is 12 days (six alternating doses using six 250 g packs). Usually, after six doses, a significant increase in egg-laying can be observed.

PolyEgg increases bee activity, so be sure the environment contains sufficient pollen and nectar sources. If not, supplement the diet with pollen patties.
