Skeleformin – A Unique Supplement for the Formation, Growth, and Development of Bones in Foals and Fetuses
- Skeleformin is a specialized supplement designed to support the formation, growth, and development of bones in equine fetuses (during gestation) and foals from birth up to two years of age. It contains high levels of essential vitamins, amino acids, and both macro- and microminerals required for healthy skeletal development.
- Recommended Usage Skeleformin should be added to the concentrate portion of .
- Pregnant mares (months 9, 10, and 11 of gestation): 250 g/day
- Lactating mares (until the end of lactation): 250 g/day
- Foals (from the start of solid feeding until 1 year of age): 125–150 g/day
- Foals (from 1 to 2 years of age): 250 g/day
Important Notes
- The foal’s dosage is independent from that of the lactating mare. During nursing, Skeleformin should continue to be given to the mare.
- Using vitamin C (Vita-C) alongside Skeleformin for both mare and foal significantly enhances growth efficiency and amplifies the supplement’s effectiveness.
Skeleformin is not a replacement for concentrate feed—it is a nutritional support tool designed to address deficiencies and support the body’s increasing needs. A well-balanced, high-quality concentrate remains essential for both mare and foal
The Importance of Nutrition During Gestation and Foalhood
A horse’s long-term performance and physical development depend heavily on adequate nutrition during gestation and early growth stages. The adult horse’s physique begins forming in the womb and is shaped further during the intense growth period of foalhood. At this stage, the foal requires carefully balanced nutrients to grow properly.
The only route for delivering nutrients to the fetus is via the pregnant mare’s bloodstream. The final trimester of gestation is when the majority of skeletal formation occurs. Nutrient deficiency during this critical window results in poor skeletal development and weak, low-birthweight foals. Postnatal compensation for skeletal deficits is difficult—and sometimes not possible.
Skeleformin is designed precisely for this purpose: to deliver essential vitamins, amino acids, and minerals in balanced ratios to the fetus through maternal nutrition

Skeleformin’s Role After Birth
During lactation, the mare’s milk is the sole source of nutrition for the foal. Thus, the quality and nutrient density of the milk directly impact the foal’s skeletal and muscular development. Supplementing the mare with Skeleformin helps support strong bone development in the foal, while also preserving the mare’s own reserves (fat, muscle, and bone).
Once the foal begins consuming solid feed, Skeleformin should also be added directly to the foal’s ration—while continuing its use in the mare’s feed. This dual supplementation results in maximum growth efficiency.
The regimen should continue until the foal reaches two years of age.
The result: Healthy, strong foals that achieve their full genetic growth potential
